The Journey, Day by Day
Travel east from Windhoek through the Kalahari to Ghanzi, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and the Makgadikgadi region before reaching Maun and the Okavango Delta. Day 1 · Windhoek to Gobabis
Travel east from Windhoek through Namibia's open cattle country toward Gobabis. The shorter first stage creates an easy start to the cross-border journey and leaves time to check equipment, discuss the route and settle into the Kalahari landscape. An afternoon walk, short drive or relaxed time at the accommodation can be arranged before the longer border day. Because this is a private journey, stops for photographs, refreshments and short walks can be adjusted to the group's pace. Day 2 · Gobabis to Ghanzi
Cross the Trans-Kalahari border into Botswana and continue east toward Ghanzi. Formalities and road conditions influence the pace, so the day is kept flexible with planned comfort stops. Arrive in the broad Kalahari landscape around Ghanzi, settle into the selected accommodation and enjoy the evening beneath a wide sky. Day 3 · Ghanzi and the Central Kalahari Access Area
Begin with a respectful guided experience hosted by local San community members, learning about tracking, plants and knowledge of the Kalahari environment. Continue afterward toward the western access route for the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The overnight location is selected to suit road conditions and the following day's entry, allowing an organised start into this remote wilderness. The exact order of activities can be adjusted to weather, availability and the group's preferred pace. Day 4 · Central Kalahari Game Reserve
Enter the Central Kalahari and cross immense plains, fossil riverbeds and low dune country toward the Deception Valley area or another accessible sector. Wildlife can be widely dispersed, making the sense of space as important as individual sightings. Watch for oryx, springbok, jackal and predators before reaching a remote camp where the night sky and silence are part of the experience. Wildlife sightings remain natural and cannot be guaranteed, but the varied habitats create excellent opportunities throughout the day.

Day 5 · Central Kalahari to the Makgadikgadi Region
Leave the reserve through Matswere Gate and continue toward Rakops or the western Makgadikgadi region. This is a long wilderness travel day across variable sand and gravel tracks, so the final route and overnight point are chosen according to road conditions. As the journey continues east, the landscape opens toward the salt-pan system and the Boteti River corridor. Day 6 · Makgadikgadi Landscapes
Explore the Boteti River or an accessible section of the Makgadikgadi region, selected according to season, water levels and accommodation location. The day may combine a guided drive, salt-pan viewpoints and time to understand the strong seasonal character of this landscape. Wildlife sightings remain natural and cannot be guaranteed, but the varied habitats create excellent opportunities throughout the day. Day 7 · Makgadikgadi to Maun
Travel west to Maun, the main gateway to the Okavango Delta. Open Kalahari country gradually gives way to the busier roads and river-edge settlements around town. After checking in, prepare for the wetland programme, repack for any light-aircraft or boat transfer and enjoy a relaxed evening before entering the Delta. Day 9 · Okavango Delta Experience
Explore the Delta's waterways by traditional mokoro with local guides, moving quietly between reeds, lilies and low islands. A guided nature walk or additional boat activity can complement the day, while the hottest hours are spent resting at camp. Day 10 · Return to Maun

Day 11 · Departure from Maun
Transfer to Maun Airport according to the confirmed flight time, or continue with another Botswana itinerary. The schedule allows time for check-in and any luggage arrangements required for onward light-aircraft travel. If departure is later, a relaxed breakfast or short visit in town can be included before saying goodbye to the guide. Timing is coordinated with the onward flight or accommodation booking, and additional services can be arranged when required. The programme remains flexible around confirmed departure times.

This privately guided camping journey starts in Windhoek, Namibia, and ends in Maun, Botswana, covering approximately 1,800 to 2,200 km depending on reserve access.
