Day by day activities

Maun, Botswana

Day 1

Arrival in Maun

We arrive in Maun, Botswana's gateway town to the legendary Okavango Delta, where the tarmac ends and the wilderness begins. After being met at the airport, we transfer to our hotel and the rest of the day is yours to recover from the journey and ease into the rhythm of Africa. For those who want a first glimpse of what lies ahead, an optional scenic flight over the Delta is available, revealing its extraordinary network of channels and islands from above. In the evening, our guide gathers the group for a full briefing on the days ahead, covering the route, the border crossings and everything we are about to experience together.

Day 2

Maun to Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve

After breakfast we head into the heart of the Okavango Delta, entering Moremi Game Reserve, one of the most ecologically diverse and wildlife-rich areas in all of Africa. The route transitions from dry savannah to seasonal floodplains as the Delta draws us in. After settling in at our camp, we head out for our first wildlife activity in the Delta ecosystem. Elephants, buffalo, antelope and predators move freely through this extraordinary landscape, and the combination of water, woodland and open plain means that no two drives feel the same. We return to camp as the light fades, surrounded by the sounds of the bush.

Day 3

Exploring Moremi Game Reserve

Today belongs entirely to the Delta. We rise early and head out into the cool morning air, moving through floodplains, lagoons and wooded channels in search of whatever the day brings. Moremi is celebrated for the sheer variety of its terrain and the density of its wildlife, and the slower pace of the Delta invites a more attentive kind of watching. After lunch and a midday rest at camp, we head out again in the afternoon, when the light shifts and the animals begin to move once more. We fall asleep to the sounds of hippos and frogs, as fully immersed in the wild as anywhere on Earth.

Day 4

Moremi to Chobe National Park

We leave the Delta behind and travel north-east toward Chobe National Park, one of the most wildlife-dense areas on the continent. The landscape shifts around us as wetlands give way to drier woodland, and by the time we reach the Chobe River, the scale of animal life here makes itself known immediately. After lunch, we board a boat and cruise along the riverfront as herds of elephants come down to drink, hippos surface and submerge in the channels, and crocodiles line the banks in the late afternoon sun. It is one of the great wildlife spectacles of Africa, and we take it all in slowly from the water.

Day 5

Chobe National Park game drives

A full day inside Chobe, exploring different sections of a park that consistently delivers. We head out early on the first drive, tracking animals across open plains and through woodland as they move between feeding and watering areas. Chobe is famous above all for its elephants, which gather here in numbers that have to be seen to be believed, but lions, leopards, buffalo and wild dog are all present too. After breakfast back at the lodge and a midday rest, we head out again in the afternoon when the park comes alive once more. Each drive reveals something new, and the day ends in quiet satisfaction.

Day 6

Chobe to Zambezi Region, Namibia

We cross the border from Botswana into Namibia's lush Zambezi Region, a stretch of river country that feels far removed from the desert landscapes Namibia is more commonly known for. Dense woodlands and riverine forest line the route, and the air is thick and green after the drier parks behind us. We arrive at our lodge on the riverbank, where lunch is served overlooking the water. The afternoon brings a guided boat cruise or river activity, drifting through channels where aquatic wildlife and extraordinary birdlife are abundant. The evening is unhurried, the river flowing quietly in the darkness outside.

Day 7

Zambezi Region exploration

We spend the day immersed in the quieter rhythms of the Zambezi Region, an area that rewards those who are willing to slow down. Morning activities take us along the river and through the surrounding bush, whether by boat, on foot, or through a cultural visit depending on conditions. The Zambezi sees fewer visitors than the major parks, and there is a peacefulness here that is hard to find elsewhere. Midday is spent resting at the lodge before an afternoon on the riverbanks, where the birdlife alone is worth the journey. We close the day with dinner by the water, listening to the river flow.

Day 8

Zambezi Region to Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

After breakfast we cross into Zimbabwe, heading toward Hwange National Park, one of the largest protected areas in Africa and home to some of the continent's most impressive elephant herds. The drive passes through rural landscapes before the park opens up around us. After lunch and time to settle in, we head out on our first game drive in Hwange, exploring the network of waterholes that draw wildlife from across the reserve. Lions, buffalo, giraffe and vast columns of elephants move through the bush in the late afternoon light. We return to the lodge as night falls, already looking forward to the next morning.

Day 9

Hwange National Park game drives

A full day in Hwange, and every hour of it worthwhile. We set out early, covering different sections of the park and following the animals as they move between their morning feeding grounds and the waterholes that define life here in the dry season. The park's open plains and dense woodlands offer excellent visibility, and our guide brings the ecosystem to life with insight about Hwange's extraordinary conservation story. The afternoon drive takes us deeper, as predators and plains game become increasingly active in the cooler hours. We return to camp with dust on our clothes and no shortage of stories.

Day 10

Hwange to Matobo National Park

We leave the open plains of Hwange behind and travel south toward Matobo National Park, where the landscape transforms dramatically. Ancient granite hills rise from the earth in extraordinary balancing formations, a geological world unlike anything seen on the journey so far. On arrival we check in and settle before an afternoon introduction to this remarkable place, guided through rocky terrain and surrounding bush. Matobo is known for its white rhino, its cultural and spiritual significance, and its atmosphere of deep, ancient stillness. It is a different kind of wildlife experience, and one that leaves a lasting impression.

Day 11

Exploring Matobo National Park

Today we go deeper into Matobo, a park that reveals more of itself the longer you spend inside it. Morning activities explore the granite formations, valleys and viewpoints that make this landscape so distinctive, while our guide explains the area's historical and spiritual importance. Tracking rhino through the rocky terrain is a humbling experience, moving slowly and quietly through a landscape that has barely changed in thousands of years. The afternoon is unhurried, with time to sit among the rocks and take in the silence. We return to the lodge for a final dinner in Matobo, reluctant to leave.

Day 12

Matobo to Victoria Falls

After breakfast we travel north toward Victoria Falls, one of the most powerful natural landmarks on Earth. The drive carries us through towns and open countryside before the Zambezi River system comes into view and the distant sound of falling water makes itself known. We check in at our lodge and have lunch before the afternoon is yours to relax or begin exploring the surroundings. Victoria Falls is a place that builds anticipation, and the first evening here carries the particular excitement of knowing that tomorrow we will stand at the edge of it.

Day 13

Guided visit to Victoria Falls

We walk to the falls in the morning, led by our guide through the rainforest paths that line the gorge. Viewpoint after viewpoint opens up along the way, each offering a different angle on the extraordinary spectacle of the Zambezi throwing itself into the chasm below. The mist rises high enough to be seen from kilometres away, and the roar of the water is something felt as much as heard. The guide explains the geology, the seasonal variations and the remarkable history of one of Africa's greatest natural wonders. The afternoon is free for optional activities, and the evening is spent at the lodge with a sense of the journey nearing its end.

Day 14

Leisure day in Victoria Falls

The day is yours. Some guests choose to explore the local markets, others opt for one of the many optional activities available in and around Victoria Falls, from river cruises to adventure experiences. Our guide remains on hand to assist and recommend. It is a day for reflection as much as exploration, a chance to absorb the full sweep of the past two weeks before the final evening gathers us together for dinner, the last night of the tour, and one final conversation around the table about everything we have seen and shared.

Day 15

Departure from Victoria Falls

After a last breakfast together, we transfer to Victoria Falls Airport and bring the journey to a close. Fifteen days, three countries, and a collection of landscapes and wildlife encounters that will take a long time to fully process. We say goodbye at the airport, already knowing that Africa has a way of making you want to come back.
